Acting & Performance
Paul trained at Sydney Theatre School (2009), with David Ritchie, Kate Gaul and Malcolm Frawley, gaining a Diploma in Theatre Performance.

In 2017, Paul was delighted to take part in the Equity Foundation's Casting Hothouse in Brisbane with US Casting Directors Kerry Barden (Good Will Hunting, Se7en, Dallas Buyers Club, Spotlight) and Matt Skrobalak (Star Trek: Discovery, CSI), and Australia's Alison Telford (Glitch, Seven Types of Ambiguity, Miss Fisher's Murder Mysteries).
Paul continues to develop his skills through masterclasses and workshops including with Beth Charkham (UK) (2018), Peter Andrikidis, Greg Apps, Thea McLeod, Lou Mitchell & Micaeley Gibson (2017), Kriv Stenders (2016), Leigh Pickford & Caitlin Well (2015), Alison Telford, Cinzia Coassin, Angela Heesom & Ted Brunetti (2013), Ian Rickson (2012), Brenda Blethyn (2011), and Ann Fay & Gary Davy (2010).
Paul has done work in Alexander Technique, and Insight and Zen meditation. Meditation remains an important part of his practice.
Other
Paul completed postgraduate studies with a Masters in Human Bioethics (Monash University, Melbourne, 1999). In his graduate studies, Paul gained a B.A. (Hons) in Philosophy and English Literature (University of Manchester, UK, 1989).
Also, Paul has completed training in areas such as Advanced Train the Trainer (1997), Team Building & Management (1996), Staff Supervision (1996), and a Certificate in Counselling Skills (1993). He was a mentor in the NSW Attorney-General's Department's Mentoring Program (2004/05). He was an Official Community Visitor in NSW (at services for people with a disability) in 2013.
During his career prior to acting, Paul worked in senior roles with a range of organisations including the Department of Premier & Cabinet (NSW), NSW Health, the Office of the Federal Privacy Commissioner (Australian Government), and the Office of the Public Guardian (NSW). He has worked with not-for-profit organisations in HIV/AIDS, mental health, and disability (in NSW and in the UK).
